Light Source Organics will be a fully sustainable, green-energy-powered agricultural enterprise committed to reshaping food production in The Bahamas. Designed to support food sovereignty, climate resilience, and economic empowerment, all operations will be run on 100% renewable energy, setting a new standard for eco-conscious farming in island communities.
1. Hydroponics & Freight Farms
We will establish solar-powered hydroponic systems housed in climate-controlled freight farms to produce fresh, nutrient-rich leafy greens and herbs year-round. These systems will minimize water usage, eliminate the need for pesticides, and ensure stable food production regardless of weather conditions.
2. Heliculture (Snail Farming)
We will pioneer snail farming (heliciculture) in the region to supply both local and export markets with high-protein, low-impact food sources. Additionally, we will explore the cosmetic and wellness markets by harvesting snail mucin for natural skincare products. The entire heliciculture setup will operate within a green energy framework.
3. Future Poultry Facility: Local Egg Production
A solar-powered poultry facility will be developed to meet the growing demand for locally sourced, organic eggs. This facility will operate on sustainable principles, using regenerative systems that convert waste into compost and promote closed-loop practices. It will reduce the community’s reliance on imported eggs and create local job opportunities.
