Professional Biography of Waldon Russell, DBA

Waldon Antonio Russell, the new CEO of The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC), is a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Strategy and Innovation and a distinguished member of the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.  In addition to a DBA, Dr Russell holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer registered by both the United Kingdom Engineering Council & the Institute of Engineering and Technology in London, England and a Professional Engineer registered by the Professional Engineering Board in The Bahamas. His other relevant training includes completing the PURC/World Bank International Training Program on Utility Regulation and Strategy and Practicing Leadership in a Political Environment Course hosted by the Public Utility Research Centre at Warrington College of Business Administration.

Dr Russell’s professional background includes a combination of executive management and international relations experience in multi-stakeholder organizations.  Previously, Dr Russell served as Acting Director of Electronic Communications at The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority.   He has also represented The Bahamas as Deputy Head and Head of Delegation at international organizations, including The United Nations International Telecommunication Union World Radio Conference, The Organization of American States Inter-American Telecommunication Commission and The Caribbean Telecommunication Union.   Dr Russell has successfully led the development and implementation of several national sector policies and public consultation processes of significant socio-economic importance. As CEO of the BCCEC, he will continue contributing to the national development of The Bahamas by representing the private sector on critical issues impacting commerce, the business sector and employers in The Bahamas.
