Flamingo Bahamas, a Bahamian-built platform connecting local merchants with residents and visitors, is expanding to Nassau through a new partnership with the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC).

The business, launched in Grand Bahama in July 2025, has grown to nearly 200 active subscribers and has helped more than 50 Grand Bahama businesses reach new customers, according to a press statement on the partnership.

The company has facilitated scores of deal redemptions across Abaco, Bimini, Eleuthera, Exuma, and Grand Bahama.

Founder of Flamingo Bahamas Laquay Laing, who is a Grand Bahama native, said he developed the business after identifying a consistent gap in how local businesses connect with the people most likely to support them.

“People used to clip coupons. Now they scroll their phones looking for deals on everything from dinner reservations to beauty appointments, to their next workout,” said Laing.

“We built Flamingo Bahamas for the Bahamian business owner who is working hard, but needs more eyes on what they offer.”

The statement said businesses join for free, with no monthly fees, no risks, and post deals in real time.

However, it said, subscribers pay $9.99 for 28 days of access to the deals.

Flamingo Bahamas said for businesses in Grand Bahama already on the platform, the results have spoken for themselves.

“Before Flamingo Bahamas, getting in front of visitors meant hoping they stumbled across us online, or picked up a flyer somewhere,” explained the owner of CMT Tours, LaShaun Dorsett.

“Now they arrive with the app open and a deal already in hand. It has brought in customers I would never have reached otherwise.”

Owner of Rondi’s ShoeNiverse, Rhonda Lowe, said she had new local customers within one week of signing up.

“It costs nothing to be on the platform, and the returns have been real,” said Lowe.

The statement explains that the intersection of local business growth and visitor experience attracted the BCCEC. It said the partnership means BCCEC members will receive priority onboarding and will be prominently featured in a high-visibility co-branded campaign that will be rolled out across New Providence in April and will continue in May.

Flamingo Bahamas said this initiative offers a direct link to an established network of businesses, providing their platform with the professional credibility necessary to scale within the private sector.

CEO of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Dr. Leo Rolle said this kind of support is at the heart of the BCCEC’s mandate.

“Flamingo Bahamas gives every business in our network a free tool to reach more customers. It is a straightforward win,” said Rolle.

For Laing, the vision is to have a Bahamian-built platform that keeps the Bahamian dollar circulating in the local economy.
