The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce recently met with the Miami Gardens Chamber of Commerce to explore opportunities for cross-border collaboration. Andre Williams, a real estate attorney and former city councilman from Miami Gardens, introduced himself and expressed a strong interest in partnering with the Bahamas Chamber. He emphasized the potential for mutual business development, particularly in areas such as real estate, trade, and shipping.
This meeting was held on Friday, July 25th at the Chamber of Commerce’s office, with Chamber members attending both in person and virtually. Also in attendance were representatives from several Family Island Chambers, including Abaco, Exuma, Grand Bahama, and Long Island - underscoring the national interest in strengthening international partnerships. The meeting served as an introductory session to discuss how both chambers could work together to facilitate business and investment opportunities between the United States and The Bahamas.
A significant portion of the discussion centered on trade—specifically, exporting Bahamian products to the U.S. market. The group explored the possibility of partnering with Leading retail stores in Miami Gardens to stock Bahamian-made goods. The conversation also touched on the legal and regulatory requirements for Bahamian businesses looking to operate in the U.S., including import duties and compliance matters.
Real estate investment opportunities in The Bahamas were another key topic. The group discussed the country’s unique makeup as a 750-mile archipelago with over 20 inhabited islands, each offering distinct investment potential and logistical considerations. The Miami Gardens Chamber shared insights into their business-to-consumer model, which includes radio podcasts, newsletters, digital marketing support, and certification services. Both chambers agreed there was strong potential for synergy, including promoting Bahamian businesses through wider platforms in the U.S.
BCCEC Members are always encouraged to stay tuned for more opportunities to participate in sessions like this as the Chamber continues to build strategic partnerships that benefit Bahamian businesses. Your voice, presence, and ideas matter—don’t miss the next one!
