Training Opportunity: Solar Assessment and Energy Auditor Training Program

From the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection: GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme: "Capacity building for Energy Auditing and Solarization Readiness (Solar Assessment) in The Bahamas"

The Government of The Bahamas has received funding from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) via the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for grant management support to the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP) for "Capacity Building for Energy Auditing and Solarization Readiness (solar assessment) in The Bahamas".

The Solar Assessment and Energy Auditor Training Program is comprehensive and concentrated. The courses will be of great benefit to all attendees and will, for many, be the foundation of a whole new or expanded career in a highly in-demand field. This training programme is being facilitated by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (MENR) and implemented by Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI).

The RMI energy auditing and solar PV training will provide students with the necessary knowledge in energy auditing and solar PV design and installation for them to meaningfully contribute to sustainable energy projects in The Bahamas. These opportunities would allow the students to improve their skills while obtaining the requisite experience to be eligible for future certification.

The courses will be fast-paced and include a combination of in-person classroom instruction, in-person field instruction, and independent learning/practice with virtual support available from instructors. Formal instruction days will be held for solar assessment from March 27th to 31st. Energy auditing training will be held from April 17th to 21st (classroom work and instructor-led surveys) and April 24th to 28th (trainee-led surveys with instructor support).

The Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (MENR) has identified seven (7) entities as the recruitment pool from which twenty (20) students will be selected for the proposed training programme. Please see the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M83XPZR to the Trainee Application and Pre-evaluation Form to be completed and submitted as instructed.
