Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC) Don Williams congratulated the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) on its general election win and invited the returning government, as well as the new opposition members, to speak to the business community in a forum setting on plans to advance businesses in the country.

Williams said the BCCEC would be happy to host such a forum.

He explained that a second-term government allows for the continuity of programs that the PLP began to improve the ease of doing business in the country.

Williams added that the business community is eager to hear what plans the government has to improve their sector.

“We congratulate the PLP on their win,” said Williams.

“We do see this as a great opportunity to see continuity with a second-term government that we haven’t seen in years.

“At the same time, we are now interested in the actual plan they have of progress.

“The country, economy, and businesses are watching and will keep both the government and opposition accountable.”

At a business readiness expo in January, Williams hailed the importance of improving the ease of doing business in The Bahamas.

“We speak about it a lot, various agencies do, but this (expo) is our action step towards improving the ease of doing business.”

He added, “It’s our way of bridging the gap to ensure that business owners and anyone interested in getting into business can come down and have a one-stop shop where they can get serviced in real time.”
