Event Recap: BCCEC Members Mix & Mingle - Beyond Traditional Lending – Alternative Funding, AI & Robotics - Simplified Lending

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC) hosted its first quarterly exclusive Members Mix and Mingle for 2026 on Thursday, April 16th. Robert Pantry, CEO of Simplified Lending, delivered an engaging and insightful presentation to BCCEC members on the need to move beyond traditional lending models. He addressed a central issue for businesses today: gaining access to capital. Traditional lending remains slow, rigid, and often inflexible, which can impede growth, strain cash flow, and limit expansion opportunities.

A major takeaway was that financing strategies must be tailored to each business’s unique needs. The right funding structure can make the difference between stagnation and sustainable growth.

Mr. Pantry explored a spectrum of alternative financing options designed to supplement traditional bank loans, providing businesses with greater agility and speed. These solutions offer:

  • Faster access to capital

  • Flexible, customized structures

  • Funding based on cash flow and assets, not just credit scores

Highlighted options included:

  • Factoring: Turning outstanding invoices into immediate cash

  • Receivables financing: Borrowing against expected income

  • Asset-based lending: Using real estate or other assets as collateral

  • Short-term and bridge financing: Managing growth and timing gaps

  • Mezzanine financing and preference shares: Meeting complex funding needs

The message was clear: alternative financing is not a replacement for traditional banking, but a strategic complement that can fill gaps and help businesses maintain momentum. The session also delved into the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics on business operations:

  • AI agents serving as digital employees to boost productivity and reduce costs.

  • Robotics and embodied AI are enhancing efficiency, service quality, and capacity

A key insight from the evening was that businesses embracing both innovative financing and new technologies are better equipped to scale, compete, and succeed in a rapidly changing economy.

BCCEC members were highly engaged, asking thoughtful and relevant questions that led to lively, meaningful discussions. The event was marked by energy and enthusiasm, reflecting a strong interest in the topics presented.

The evening concluded with raffle prizes and networking opportunities, allowing members to connect and build valuable professional relationships in a relaxed, collaborative setting.
