The Company is a supplier of medical equipment with local service support and is also the leading distributor of medical, dental, and veterinary supplies. The Company operates a Medical Specialty Retail Store that caters to the Homecare Market. The Company caters to the full healthcare industry including pharmaceuticals, orthopedics, and mortuary. The Company operates in the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Turks & Caicos Islands. BMSSL is a one-stop shop for the healthcare industry catering to healthcare professionals, healthcare facilities, and to the general public.

Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique: Bahamas Medical & Surgical Supplies Limited is a unique company. It is the only local company that provides the full range of goods and services to the healthcare industry. We believe that we contribute to improving the standard of healthcare in the Bahamas by the service that we provide.


We are a proactive company that seeks to introduce new products and services to the local industry. Our representation of GE Healthcare with local service support has made the cutting-edge technology of this leader in healthcare more affordable.


The layout of our bright and colorful Retail Store provides a unique customer experience.



What’s the most exciting recent highlight for your business? Bahamas Medical & Surgical Supplies Limited relocated to its new Corporate Office and warehouse Complex in November 2020. The Company is proud of its new and expanded 3,750 sq ft Retail Store that supplies a wide range of specialty products including over-the-counter items, dental products, mastectomy wear, and natural skincare products. The store also provides products for every aspect of the homecare market including mobility, incontinence, physiotherapy, wound care, and orthopedic supplies.


As the newly appointed distributors of GoJo Industries, manufacturers of PURELL®, BMSSL is pleased to offer the full portfolio of PURELL® products, which includes sanitizers, soaps, wipes, and surface spray, in several markets throughout the archipelago.


The Company recently added an E-Commerce platform designed to give our online consumers the same exceptional service as they would experience within our retail store. It also provides the consumer with a convenient way of shopping, especially for our family island consumers who can sit within the convenience of their home and shop from any digital device they have available at www.bahamasmed.com.


Our current hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm and Saturdays 10 am-2 pm.

E-Commerce adds a 24-hour online shopping experience.



Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months? Bahamas Medical & Surgical Supplies Limited (BMSSL), will continue to be the leader in healthcare in the Bahamas. This Post-COVID environment is expected to see an expansion in healthcare in both the public and private sectors. BMSSL will be a leader in providing goods and services to the growing market.


What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business? “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all love what you are doing or learning to do.”


There are several keys to business. Know your market. Know your customers. Know your products or service. Be consistent. Work hard. Exercise financial restraint. Always try to be better.
