BCCEC CEO attends IDB Event: Beyond our Prisoners

The CEO took part in panel discussion "What happens after prison? Improving prospects for reentry and reintegration into society" along side Mr. Kirk James, Professor, New York University, USA and Mrs. Patrenda Brice, Deputy Director, Bahamas Department of Labour. The event took place on Wednesday, October 9th 2019 at Baha Mar Convention Center.

This event included the launch of “Our Prisoners: A Collection of Papers Arising from a 2016 Survey of Inmates at The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services Facility at Fox Hill”, co-produced with the University of The Bahamas and the Inter-American Development Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security.

The findings of this study will be used as a starting point to explore the types of policy and programme approaches which should be considered to address the challenges of reducing, rehabilitating and reintegrating the incarcerated population in The Bahamas.
