RECAP: BBSQ & BCCEC Present: EU Packaging and Labelling Workshop

The Bahamas Bureau of Standards and Quality (BBSQ) and the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce (BCCEC) collaborated for an informational workshop where public and private sector stakeholders learned about how to properly package and label their products for export to the European Union market.

The workshop ran for two sessions, October 26th - 28th and November 2nd - 4th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm each day.

Bringing opening remarks, Renae Bufford, BBSQ director, said: “As the principal national authority for standards and quality, the BBSQ prides itself on advancing development through the facilitation and promotion of quality services for local businesses.

“As the preeminent resource and advocate for local businesses, the BCCEC aims to drive effective change for the entire business community. So, it is no surprise that members of both organizations would create a three-day forum to discuss the logistics of packaging and labelling goods for the EU market.”

The workshop sessions covered broad topics such as current EU market trends, the EU-CARIFORUM Economic Partnership Agreement, units and measurements, packaging requirements and business intelligence tools.
