Our CEO, Dr. Leo Rolle recently attended The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda, where representatives addressed the complexities of SIDS economies in plenary sessions as well as two highly anticipated Interactive Dialogues.
SIDS are often isolated and extremely vulnerable to unforeseen shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic or natural disasters which can leave their economy decimated and their people struggling to make ends meet. We live in a world in which these nations contribute very little to the causes of climate change but are the first to feel its effects.
Experts Dr. Leo Rolle, CEO of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation, and Dr. Stefano Moncada, Director of the Islands Small State Institute from the University of Malta, analyze this contradictory scenario along with the role of debt burden and the grand achievement of the Multidemsional Vulnerability Index to better evaluate the intricacies of the standard of living in SIDS.
